Cause and Effect: Rings and interconnections.

I think deeply about things.

Like, my mind has a way of running around cycles based on the things it consumes. Sometimes, I think it is my Comms or journalism background that kicks into auto-response.

I can just be watching something, and it sparks deep thoughts and patterns that I think can be explored in real-life situations. I am seeing the last episode of Breaking Bad Season Two, and the sequence of things just overwhelmed me. How most things happen as a domino, and individual actions can have consequences that you cannot explain or even realize. If you have not seen Breaking Bad, you may not be able to relate, but I hope you can still follow.

Combo dies.

Shot by a little kid in a drug turf war.

Jesse feels so bad about his contribution to the situation and then decides to smoke and encourages his babe to leave the house cos he doesn’t want her to relapse. After getting to the door, she decides not to go and chooses to be a supportive girlfriend. It is a stupid decision, but it becomes part of a play that is unknown to her. She succumbs to her addiction. For context, she had been clean and sober for 18 months but now goes back to square one, if not more.

And then, Jesse continues to get high. With Jane. The girlfriend who was sober for a while. And within the whole mix, she finds out that Jesse has access to plenty of money they can continue using to get high. With this information, she threatens Walt White, who brings the money, and they, Jane and Jesse decide to get high one last time.

On realising that he, Walt, cannot give up on Jesse, he goes back to check in on him. In trying to wake up Jesse, Jane is pushed aside, lying face up, and then she starts vomiting (a side effect of taking heroine), and Walt decides not to save her. Because, with her gone, he can have Jesse back. Sane.

But this sets off another chain reaction.

Jane dies.

Her Father, who is an air traffic controller, does not mourn properly and tries to continue his work even though he is in much pain. And unintentionally and unconsciously gives direction that leads to two planes colliding mid-air. A massive explosion happens, killing everybody onboard both aircraft. A teddy bear from the crash ends up in Walt’s swimming pool.

Let me take you back a bit.

There was no way that Walt White could have gone back to the house to try to save Jesse, if he did not meet Jane’s father and had the discussion about not giving up on their children.

So, Combo dies. Then Jane. Then 100s of people in the plane crash. Most likely, Jane’s father’s career is gone. But there is still redemption for Jesse and Walt, two integral parts of the moving domino, who must live with the consequences of their actions.

This is so crazy.

I just sat down to write cos I felt I had to ink connecting everything, and I don’t know why I felt a sharp wave of pain. Cos it brings to the realization how our inactions and actions are feeding into a bigger picture that we may never know about.

Surreal.
