Finding Focus in a World of Comparisons.

If you have hacked contentment and focus (that comes from a sense of awareness), you don’t know what God has done for you.

That ability to see your path and stay on it, irrespective of what is happening around you, until your job is done and victory is won.

I actually think the internet has made the world more complex from the psychological and emotional point of view. There was a time when it was easier to focus on what is yours because what is not yours is out of view and not likely to come into view in a way you can compare.

But these days, there is a temptation to always center you in the context of other people’s wins and losses:

“S/He is better…

At least, I am better.

E remain small to reach xxx”

You are now doing so much to meet an external target that sometimes you even get, and it does not come along with fulfillment, or you have lost more precious things (which you get to discover later) in a blinded pursuit.

This is a reminder that there is a priceless experience that comes with knowing you, seeing you, and having a plan for you outside the context of comparison. Some form of measured internal locus of control where you take responsibility for the things you want to see and have a sense of agency that is not defined by external standards.

I want to believe this is possible and not out of reach.

What do you think?
